New water tower design, anyone know when it gets painted?

Saw the design for the new Bryant water tower that a Bryant High graphic design class came up with. Classic Bryant blue, a honeycomb pattern, and "Home of the Hornets" across it. Honestly I think it looks great 🐝 Way better than a plain tower with just the city name on it.

But I can't tell from what I read where it's going or when it gets painted. Does anybody know which tower this is? Is it a brand new one or an old one getting redone? I drive Alexander Road every day and I'd like to know if I'll be able to see it from out here.

Also kind of cool that a student's work ended up on something the whole town will look at for the next 30 years. Hope that kid gets some real design work out of it, we could use more local jobs like that.

What do y'all think of the design?

Design's fine. Honeycomb beats a plain tower with the city name in Arial. No idea which tower it is though, the article didn't say, and I haven't seen a paint date anywhere. Wouldn't be shocked if it stays a nice rendering for a year or two πŸ˜…

Good for the student, but pay the kid for it. Don't just hand out a "thanks, great exposure."

ha a year or two sounds about right for anything the city does. i remember when the old tower was just plain gray with nothin on it at all. honeycomb is fine by me, long as it dont show up on my property tax bill lol

Ha, "a year or two" might be generous then πŸ˜‚ I'm hoping it gets painted before deer season, though honestly I'd settle for someone just saying which tower it is. Pretty sure water tower paint comes out of the water utility side and not property tax, but don't quote me on that.

I'll keep an eye out driving Alexander Road. If anybody sees a crew or scaffolding going up anywhere, post it here 🐝

scaffolding on alexander road would be a first for this town, so i'd just call the water utility and ask which tower. they'd know. and a paid internship for that kid would beat a plaque, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ha, fair, the only thing going up on Alexander Road is another deer stand πŸ˜‚ Calling the water utility is a good idea, I'm not sure why I didn't think of that. I'll try them when the office opens this morning and post here if I get a straight answer on which tower and when.

And yeah, a paid internship would be the real win. A plaque is nice, but a kid who can put "designed a Bryant landmark" on a resume and get paid for it is what I'd like to see 🐝

Agree with Matthew on paying the kid, even a scholarship or a gift card would be something. "Exposure" doesn't pay for college. Though knowing how the city works, I bet it'll be a certificate and a photo at a council meeting.

My kids are in rec ball and they'd flip seeing "Home of the Hornets" up on a tower, so I'm hoping it actually happens. Let us know what the water utility says, Carter. Even just which tower would be more than the article gave us.
