Where do you take out of town family for a weeknight dinner?

My husband's parents are coming up from Texarkana next week and we're keeping them through Wednesday for the kids' VBS program at church. Trying to figure out where to take them for a real sit-down dinner on a weeknight. Nothing fancy, just somewhere we can hear each other talk and the kids won't get side-eyed.

We've done Senor Tequila on Reynolds Road more times than I can count so I think we're due for something different. Been wanting to try Copper Mule on Main Street and The Local Tavern over on Market Place but I haven't been to either one with a big group yet. Anybody know if they get slammed on weeknights or if you need to call ahead for 6 or 7 people?

Also if anyone has a favorite for breakfast, I'm thinking Blue House on Progress Way one morning. Is it worth the wait if we go on a weekday?

Where do you take your people when they visit? God bless

Local Tavern is solid, pretty roomy and you can actually hear each other. I'd still call ahead for 7 though. Blue House on a weekday is fine, just get there before 8:30 or so ๐Ÿฅž

Agree on calling ahead... 6 or 7 is a lot for them to seat on short notice. Blue House on a weekday is easy, it's the weekends that get crazy. Wednesday night is church night too, so most places are quieter then.

Just my two cents

Good call on Wednesday, forgot about church night. Local Tavern should be pretty chill then. Tues/Thurs I'd still call ahead ๐Ÿ‘

Ha, I totally forgot about Wednesday being church night too. VBS wraps up that evening anyway, so we'll be there and eating after. Probably do Local Tavern Tuesday then, and I'll call Monday to get a table for 7.

Good to know on Blue House, before 8:30 should work since VBS doesn't start til 9. Thanks y'all, God bless

Local Tavern on a Tuesday sounds like a good plan. Texarkana folks know their bbq so id skip anything brisket related and let em have a steak or somthing lol. Enjoy the visit, VBS week is always a good one

Ha, Ronald, you're not wrong. My father-in-law smokes his own brisket and has opinions about everybody else's, so steak it is. I'm keeping him far away from any Bryant brisket debate ๐Ÿ˜…

Wyatt, good to hear the Tavern is roomy. With 4 kids and 7 of us I need all the elbow room I can get. I'll report back after Tuesday. God bless
